Principles to the development of a complete mind:
study the science of arts. Study the arts of science.
Develop ones senses, particularly that which allows
us to see. Observe that anything is connected
to everything else.
(Leonardo DaVinci)
KINDERGARTEN › the arts

Artistic expression is a very important mean of communication, both from an educational point of view and from a psychological and emotional development viewpoint.

Through artistic expression the child talks about himself and the world surrounding him. This is the reason why we believe it to be of great importance to give children all the freedom they need to express themselves.

Too often children are shown how to draw and use colours. This is highly counterproductive because children learn to stop representing their interior world and start representing reality as seen by adults.

By giving our children freedom of artistic expression, we can reach two fundamental goals:

1. we can access the child's interior world to identify the personality traits and possible problems;
2. give the child the opportunity to express and develop his attitudes and be open towards the world that surrounds him. This will help him face life's difficulties in a balanced, constructive and positive way through a strong and firm self-awareness.
