Champions are not made in gyms. They are made of something they hold within - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have last minute stamina, they must be a bit faster, and they must have technical skills and persevere. But their perseverance must be stronger than their technical skills. |

KINDERGARTEN › sports
If by offering a wide and varied program this school is adopting a program scheme typical of Anglo-Saxon countries, this is particularly true for sports activities.
Sport is of crucial importance for a balanced and healthy life style for all age groups, but it is of particular importance as a body grows and develops into that of an adult for three main reasons:
| 1. |
during development, the body of a child needs regular physical activity to guarantee a correct and harmonic development; |
| 2. |
children love sports activities, they love to jump, run, have fun, and play. The more we are able to increase their positive emotional well-being, the healthier and happier our children will be both from a physical and mental point of view; |
| 3. |
a regular and consistent physical activity strengthens the immune system. The more active children are, the less sedentary they become, and the healthier and sicknesses free they will be. |
By offering regular physical activities, we intend to educate healthy, strong and happy children from a physical, mental and emotional point of view. Parents should encourage their children to do sports activities, however they should never forget that the most important rule is that the children need to have fun, a lot of it! Too much emphasis on winning and competing could seriously compromise the child's approach to sports and his/her self-esteem. When you choose a sport activity for your children, do make sure that their heart is in it and not just yours.
A healthy physical activity strengthens the cardiovascular and the scheletro-muscular systems, coordination and mental flexibility. Participating at sports and recreational activities develops self-discipline, team-work, awareness about the importance of running a healthy lifestyle and good habits that last a lifetime.
Any parent would like to see their children excel in sports, however too much pressure can result in injuries, not only physical but worse emotional as well. Sports at a young age should only be about having fun doing something the children like and have an interest for. If we force a child toward a sport rather than another, we risk compromise the child enthusiasm towards sports in general.
Loosing at times doesn't hurt at all on the contrary the right amount of frustration feeds motivation in positive way and builds a structure made of perseverance. |
